My name is Mary Hymers and I was born in the year nineteen twenty-seven. My mothers maiden name was Thomasina Gilfillan; after she married my father Norman Hymers she took his surname and became Thomasina Hymers although she always got Sina for short. I have one elder brother Alexander who was the oldest of us, then my sister Barbara, then me; Mary, and the baby of the family was my brother Norman.

This was a monumental job and was only made possible by the various branches of the Weather Bureau, which controlled and maintained the production capabilities of Mother Nature’s weather machine.
